Mar 28, 12:11 PM CST

The Nebraska Democratic Party this morning released a draft of its Delegate Selection Plan for the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

The 2008 Democratic National Convention’s Call for the Convention requires a 30-day comment period on all State Party plans. The Nebraska Democratic Party encourages public comment, in writing, beginning today. The public comment period will end on April 26, 2007.

The plan is available on this site at the following link: www.nebraskademocrats.org/2008delegateselection

Nebraska Democrats can submit their comments in writing via email to info@nebraskademocrats.org, or via postal mail at 1327 H St., Suite 200, Lincoln, NE 68508.

Any comments received in writing will be considered when the Nebraska Democratic Party State Executive Committee meets to approve the plan on April 28, 2007. Those comments will be included in the approved draft when it is submitted to the Democratic National Committee prior to May 1, 2007.

  1. I’ll read this tomorrow and see if I’m wrong. But at first glance, it looks like the 3rd CD takes it in the shorts once again.

  2. Here’s a great article from Rolling Stone. I think they’ve been reading some of my posts on this blog.

  3. NYD can get you a pretty close rough ‘youth number’ for page 21 if you need it.

We can easily give you the 18-30 yr old number, but since ‘youth’ is defined as 18-36, you have estimate a bit. But, at the very least, we can give you a minimum %.

However, listing that might force you to raise the delegate count, as Youth are significantly more than 6% of the population, which is the largest of the listed groups in that table.

I’m glad you’ve chosen to include youth, per YDA’s lobbying to have state parties enforce the DNC Charter provision for proportional youth representation.

This is a big step, and one I know YDs will appreciate. It’s good to see our state party here in Nebraska being ahead of the curve on this issue.

I’d also like to express thanks on this blog to Kathleen Fahey for signing onto those efforts last Feb. in DC. Kathleen has always been one of the best possible friends a roll models a Young Democrats organization could ask for.
