Let's Get the Introductions Over With

Hello, my name is Anne Bowen, and I am an intern for the Nebraska Democratic Party this summer and will be joining all of you on this blog. Before I jump into the discussion, I’d like to introduce myself and give you all a little background information about myself.
I’m a political science and public relations major at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. This coming year I will be a junior in college, although I’m excited to be back home in Nebraska for the summer. I am a graduate from Lincoln East High School, and have lived in Nebraska for most of my life.
I wanted to intern at the NDP because I thought it would offer a broader view of the political spectrum in Nebraska and would act as an alternative to working on a single campaign or in one elected official’s office. I wanted to experience how the party interacts on the local, state, and national levels. Also, it gives me the chance to incorporate both my interests by working with communications and political science, so I am eager to see what the summer has in store here.
Coming from a political family, it seems like I’ve been around politics my whole life. From an early age I’ve observed the NDP, but it’s nice to experience the party from a different angle. So as I start my summer and my internship with the NDP, I am hopeful that it will bring better insight and a new perspective in looking at the political realm. I can’t wait to begin engaging in the discussion here at the Blog for Nebraska. It’s nice to join you all!

As a former intern for the NDP, I hope you see this as much as an opportunity as I did. But please, don’t take this responsibility lightly. NDP interns should be of high caliber and should value quality work. It is a heavy obligation that you are going to have Ann. I just want to say that to you because I very much wish I was still an intern for the NDP.
