Douglas County Launches Caucus with News Conference

Sep 04, 04:47 PM CST

Today, Matt and I attended the Douglas County Democratic Party’s news conference held at the Omaha Press Club. Douglas County Chair Chris Jerram spoke to reporters from three television stations, two radio stations, and three print outlets in the Omaha area, including the Omaha World Herald and Nebraska Public Radio. The news conference highlighted the DCDP plan for the 2008 Presidential Caucus to organize by Legislative District.

DCDP Executive Director Kris Pierce welcomes the press to the news conference.

Douglas County Chair Chris Jerram addresses members of the press, surrounded by ten local Democratic elected officials.

NDP Executive Director Matt Connealy and Douglas County Chair Chris Jerram answer questions.

Jerram introduced the county party’s slogan, “Caucus Counts”
to convey the message that Nebraska’s caucus is binding. Presidential preference delegates elected at the local level are bound to their candidate throughout the entire nominating process.

Good work in Douglas County to get press coverage for their caucus. To sign up to help with the caucus in Douglas County, or anywhere else in the state, click here.

  4. Odd reaction by the GOP, it was as if they are proud of the fact the nebraska republicans have no chance to participate in the 08 Presidential selection process. I know we kid em about just taking orders from DC but when they brag about being irrelevant, well, ,,
