This morning I was searching for additional photos for my training presentation in Omaha and I came across this photo:

The photo is from viewimages.com courtesy of Eric Francis of Getty Images.
Pictured is then State Senator Matt Connealy (now our Executive Director) and NDP State Chair Steve Achelpohl with Terry McAuliffe. The photo was taken back in April of 2002, when Terry McAuliffe, then chair of the Democratic National Committee, was visiting Nebraska discussing the recruitment of more Democratic candidates in rural America. McAuliffe was also able to attend the Jefferson-Jackson (now Morrison-Exon) Dinner.
As a side note, I read Terry McAuliffe’s book What a Party! over the summer and it is a must-read for any political activist or junkie. It really inspired me to think about why I am involved in the political process. To see this image of Terry with our party’s leadership just reminded me that we have serious work to do – and that unfortunately, Matt’s hair is just a little grayer than it was back in ’02. This graying is not attributable to his current staff, we promise!
Also, I want to remind everyone that tonight in Omaha we will be conducting the fourth session of our Grassroots Academy at 6:30 p.m. at the IBEW Hall at 89th & L Streets. Everyone is welcome. Contact me if you have any questions about the event this evening. And, on Sunday, Dave will be in Gering to conduct the fifth session of the Grassroots Academy.
The Nebraska Democratic Party recognizes Terry McAuliffe is Hillary Clinton’s campaign chair, but the NDP does not support any Democratic Presidential candidate over another before the nominating process is completed.
