Veteran Wagner Announces Candidacy for Unicameral

Travis Wagner, recently retired National Guardsman and decorated Vietnam veteran, declared his intention today to become the next State Senator from District 25.

Election to the Unicameral would give Wagner the opportunity to continue his consistent record of service –– a record of service that is quite impressive.

Travis Wagner

In Vietnam, Wagner’s leadership earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross for Gallantry and twenty-six Air Medals while flying on Chinook helicopters. After returning home to Nebraska and joining the Army National Guard, Wagner earned several more awards for his service during the 1997 Lincoln-area snow storm, the 2001 Chadron wildfires, and several other natural disasters.

By prioritizing time and resources, Wagner rose to the rank of 1st Sargeant, displaying skill in communication, team building, and leadership. These are certainly all abilities that will serve Wagner well in the Unicameral as he works to straighten out the state’s spending priorities –– finding funds to strengthen schools, build stronger communities, and reduce the tax burden on middle class families.

District Profile: LD 25 covers Waverly and rural northeast Lancaster County as well as much of southeast Lincoln. Ron Raikes currently holds the seat but cannot run for reelection due to term limits.

  1. Very promising lineup we’ve got this cycle. Despite Mike Kelly’s claims it seems the Democratic Party in Nebraska is looking pretty good.

Prof. Dick Fellman once told me that the greatest advantage Democrats have in Nebraska is interesting characters.

Having been active for almost a year. I say I agree, and what an asset it is.
