AG's Staff: "I Have No Idea Where He Is"
Nov 20, 06:51 PM CST
As Jon Bruning prepared for his announcement today that he would leave the Senate race, he apparently didn’t want anyone to know where he was.
As a matter of fact, the Attorney General’s taxpayer-funded staff were telling reporters that they had no idea where their boss might be.
This afternoon I was listening to a local Lincoln radio station and found their report quite interesting. Apparently a reporter from the Nebraska Radio Network called the Attorney General’s Office at the capitol and was told by staff that “they had no idea where the Attorney General was and no way to find out.” In addition, the reporter was told that Bruning’s chief of staff was “not accepting calls today” and another staffer couldn’t talk because she was “having dental work done.”
Later in the day, the reporter called back and Bruning’s staff said that they were not allowed to say where he was.
As the Attorney General played hide-and-go-seek, who was taking care of the state’s legal needs?
What’s one more day of hiding on the campaign trail? Tomorrow will be a different story.
Let’s remember, the staffer who answered the phone wasn’t just covering for Bruning, but for other staff whose paychecks are provided for by you.
A simple statement like “the Attorney General is on personal leave today attending to campaign business” might have served the purpose. After all, he was elected to do a job. I would think his taxpayer-funded staff would:
a. Know where he is.
b. Inform the public of where he is.
c. Not allow him to hide from the citizens of the state.
Note: The Nebraska Radio Network is a broadcast service that provides audio and newscast packages for radio stations. They have more than 30 stations in their network, statewide.
