Remembering Hank Balters

Dec 04, 09:28 PM CST

Hank Balters, longtime Democrat and active member of the Lancaster County Party died on Saturday.

After graduation from high school Hank joined the US Marine Corps, 1st Force Reconnaissance, from 1959 to 1963. He married Sharon Buckles of Omaha in 1963. Graduated with BA and MA in Psychology from San Jose State, 1968. After a Clinical Psychology Internship at Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., he graduated from UNL with his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, 1974.

Immediately after graduation from UNL he started a private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in Lincoln, with most of his professional life in the Lincoln Psychiatric Group. He enjoyed helping his patients/clients with their psychological problems: they taught so much.

Since 2000 he served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Centro de las Americas/Hispanic Center.

Dr. Balters is survived by wife Sharon; sons, daughters-in-law, and grandsons

  1. Hank was a very active Democrat, until recently he was active in the PR elements of the Lancaster County Party and was always looking to extend a helping hand to the Latino community. He will be missed. My prayers are with his family.
