Dave and Mitt
Dec 13, 09:52 AM CST
The long wait is over.
If you were anything like me, you couldn’t wait to find out who Governor Dave Heineman is supporting for the Republican nomination. After all, in a world where no Republican candidate has over 50% favorability, even among Republicans, Governor Heineman’s endorsement (and the famous “Heine Bump”) could change the course of the race. Just look what it did for Pete Ricketts.

Governor Dave Heineman
Says our Governor:
“In his campaign for the presidency, Mitt Romney has outlined the clearest vision to move our country forward. With exceptional leadership experience and outstanding values, Governor Romney is the only candidate who can bring true conservative change to Washington. I am proud to be a part of his team and look forward to joining him as he travels across this country discussing his strategy to build a stronger America,” said Governor Heineman. (emphasis added)
Which “outstanding values” do you think Heineman is talking about? Governor Romney’s values in 1994 (and again in 2005) –– when he was “devoted and dedicated” to sustaining Roe v. Wade –– or his values in 2007, now that he is ardently pro-life?
How about Romney’s other values in 1994:
- Opening the Boy Scouts to all sexual orientations.
- Rejecting the Reagan/Bush economic philosophy.
- Ensuring the end of the glass ceiling in corporate America.
Not surprisingly, it seems that Nebraska’s Attorney General isn’t the only flip-flopping opportunist in Republican politics.
Regardless, I want to congratulate Governor Romney on picking up this endorsement. I’m sure it will be extremely helpful when the NEGOP finally gets around to rubber-stamping their nominee in May.
(thanks to Leavenworth Street for bringing this to our attention)
