LINCOLN, Neb. – Executive Director Matt Connealy, on behalf of the Nebraska Democratic Party, submitted a formal complaint to the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission today in response to Senator Tony Fulton’s recent campaign emails from his official State Senate email account.

“You’d think with all his special interest buddies, Tony Fulton wouldn’t need the taxpayers to pick up the tab for his campaign,” said Connealy. “This isn’t the first time that Senator Fulton has played fast and loose with public resources in his bid for election, but we’re filing this complaint to make sure it’s the last.”

Senator Fulton sent emails from his State of Nebraska email account promoting a page on his campaign website. The website is paid for by Senator Fulton’s campaign committee and accepts campaign donations, recruits volunteers, and collects email addresses for a campaign mailing list. Over the summer, Senator Fulton raised eyebrows by using his state email account to advertise his campaign.

Fulton was appointed by Governor Heineman to fill Mike Foley’s vacant seat in 2006 and is running for election this year.
