Happy April Fool's Day<br />Or, Why I'm Voting for John McCain
Apr 01, 11:25 AM CST
I know most people haven’t made up their minds about who they will support for President, but I have to say it feels good to finally get this decision out of the way:
I’m voting for John McCain.
There are a lot of reasons why, but I’ll just go through a few of them here:
1. He opposed the recent SCHIP expansion. McCain stood up to “out of control spending” by opposing the SCHIP program. Nevermind that the bill paid for itself – unlike all those Iraq War supplementals he continually supports – the important thing is that McCain had the courage to stand up against ensuring health care for our nation’s children. 2. His firm belief that America is better off economically than it was eight years ago. Senator McCain has said, “The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should,” but he can’t fool me. I’ll let Daniel Gross of Newsweek take it from here:
Reading McCain’s economic agenda, and listening to his speech, it appears that the problem with the last eight years is that we haven’t seen enough tax breaks for the wealthy, that economic royalism hasn’t been pursued with sufficient vigor, and that the middle and working classes haven’t been stiffed sufficiently.
Sounds like sound economic policy to me!
3. McCain has never met a position he didn’t like. Some people call this flip-flopping, and others will say it demonstrates that Senator McCain will say anything to be President. But not me. I say it takes courage to reverse his position so dramatically so many times:

4. But mostly, I’m inspired:
