OWH Profiles Senator McGill

Apr 14, 09:11 PM CST

The Omaha World-Herald profiled Lincoln State Senator Amanda McGill, the youngest Senator in the Unicameral:

Hard enough some days as a young woman and a Democrat in this mostly older-man Republican body of lawmakers.

Especially when you’re a former TV reporter whose classic beauty is, frankly, a distraction when you’re trying to prove yourself.

Here she is in her smart tan suit, modest pumps and pleasant smile even though she has a miserable cold.

Senator McGill served as Communications Director at the NDP before her election in 2006. She’s already proven herself as an effective State Senator and a strong voice for Lincoln and Nebraska.

  1. I know I am probably breaking a rule here in terms of who I am employed under but I can’t let my comment go unheard. Sen. McGill is one of my heros in the Legislature because of her subtle style of getting things done. She isn’t blunt but she doesn’t need to be. She knows what can be done and what should be done. She has my admiration and I hope she plans to run for re-election and then for higher office when she is term limited out. Thank you, Sen. McGill for being one of my Legislators in the Nebraska Unicameral.
