Final Day in the Unicameral for Four Democrats

Apr 17, 02:47 PM CST

Today is the final day for the 100th Legislature—meaning 15 of the 49 state senators served their last day due to term limits. Four of those departing Senators are Democrats.

John Synowiecki (LD 7, Omaha) served 7 years. He chaired the Nebraska Retirement Systems Committee and served on Appropriations.

Lowen Kruse (LD 13, Omaha) served 8 years—all of them on the Appropriations Committee. He also chaired the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee.

Don Preister (LD 5, Omaha) served 16 years on the Executive Board, the Reference Committee, the Agriculture Committee, the General Affairs Committee, the Revenue Committee, and the Committee on Committees.

Dianne Schimek (LD 27, Lincoln) served 20 years. She chaired the Legislative Performance Audit and served on the Judiciary Committee, the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee, and the Committee on Committees.

Thanks to all these Senators for their work for their Party and their State. I am sure that their commitment to public service will not end when the session is gaveled to a close today.
