Democratic Candidates Take Graffiti Problem Head On

Apr 28, 06:59 PM CST

Last Saturday, volunteers joined Heath Mello, Democratic candidate for the legislature in District 5, to clean up graffiti on buildings at the intersection of 22nd and Q Streets in Omaha.

Jeremy Nordquist, Democratic candidate in District 7, also joined the clean-up. Mello and Nordquist are seeking to represent South Omaha legislative districts currently held by term-limited Senators Don Preister and John Synowiecki.

The group prepares supplies for the day’s clean-up

Heath (with roller) and Jeremy (with brush) paint over some graffiti on a garage door.

“A graffiti clean-up is just one example of how each of us can take responsibility to improve the community we live in,” Mello said.

Also on hand were Jim Esch and Richard Carter, who will face off in the Second Congressional District primary.

Thanks to everyone who came out to help.
