  1. So, “academics” isn’t a thing of value? And to think I wasted all that money getting a college education!

  2. Creating jobs is important, but other skills are needed by a Senator. Clarity of thought, knowledge of foreign affairs and of national politics is extremely important .Youth helps too.
Thomas Paine    Apr 29, 03:05 PM CST #
  3. Someone who has traveled the world on trade missions and who has exported to 70 countries might have a little bit more knowledge about foreign affairs then someone who wrote a paper on it.

Someone who was the only candidate to publicly endorse Barack
Obama has some knowledge of national politics.

    Youth trumps experience? Naw.

  4. It is worth reminding readers that one of our greatest leaders,Woodrow Wilson,28th President of the United States spent virtually his entire professional life at Princeton University where he became President. His only,so called” real world” experience was as Governor of New Jersey,a job that he held for less than two years when he became our country’sPresident.Remember that he led our country through WWI and created the League of Nations, the precursor to the United Nations.Quite an achievement !

  5. I prefer a representative that has a good perspective of what working class Nebraskans need from their government. Education is but one way to obtain that, experience is another.

I think a corporate CEO is going to be looking at what he can do with the power of a Senatorial seat in a much different way than someone who has the experience of getting dirt under his fingernails and sweat on his brow.

  6. We have just had a series of CEO’s in office in Washington and look at the result.
We have had a gaggle of CEOs of banks nearly bring the economy to its knees. Not more of the same.A fresh approach, please!

  7. I would love to see us stop embracing these republicans who switch to Democrat just to run for office in this state. I am sure Tony is a lovely man but can we please stop pretending he is a Democrat?

  8. Brenda, I agree. I heard Tony speak at the 3rd Dist meeting in GI. He said the Republican party had left him behind. Any thinking man could see the direction of the nation by 2004, so for anyone to wait until fall of 2007 to leave that party has me wondering about his true intentions. I will never forget the damage the Republican party has done to this great nation with the policies and rhetoric of the Bush administration. And in my mind, Tony is still a Republican.
