Gary Hart to Speak at Morrison-Exon Dinner

May 02, 01:13 PM CST

A note from our Executive Director, Senator Matt Connealy:

Friends ––

On Saturday, May 10, we have the opportunity to come together as Democrats at the annual Morrison–Exon Dinner. Already in 2008, we have a lot to celebrate – but we’ll also be looking forward to continued success this year.

Join Senator Ben Nelson and other Democratic elected officials and candidates by purchasing your tickets here:

I’m proud to announce that Gary Hart, former Senator from Colorado, will be giving the keynote address at the dinner.

Senator Hart – who had never sought public office before running for Senate in 1974 – has explemplified public service his whole career. During his 12 years in the Senate, he served on the Armed Services Committee, where he specialized in nuclear arms control and was an original founder of the military reform caucus. He also served on the Senate Environment Committee, Budget Committee, and Intelligence Oversight Committee. During his Senate years, he played a leadership role in major environmental and conservation legislation, military reform initiatives, new initiatives to advance the information revolution and new directions in foreign policy. He is widely recognized as among the first to forecast the end of the Cold War.

Today, he is a leading Democratic authority on foreign policy, military policy, and international law and business.

If you haven’t yet bought tickets to the 2008 Morrison–Exon Dinner, please do so now:

I’m excited for this year’s dinner, and I hope to see you there.

Thanks for all you do,
