Primary Election Reveals Weakness in Governor's Mansion

May 14, 10:30 AM CST

By endorsing candidates in contested primaries – including primaries containing multiple Republicans – Governor Heineman made Tuesday’s election a referendum on himself.

So how did he do?

Governor Dave Heineman

LD 21:

Ken Haar 28%
James Arthur Jeffers 25% (Heineman endorsed)

LD 35:

Mike Gloor 60% (Heineman endorsed)
Gregg Neuhaus 40%

LD 39:

Rex Moats 37%
Beau McCoy 33% (Heineman endorsed)

LD 41:

Kate Sullivan 45%
Paul Eurek 27% (Heineman endorsed)

(Source: List of endorsed candidates from OWH)

1 for 4. Ouch.

If there is any doubt about just how short the Governor’s coattails really are, look at it this way: Governor Heineman endorsed Pete Ricketts in 2006, Mitt Romney earlier this year, and Paul Eurek, James Arthur Jeffers, and Beau McCoy in yesterday’s primary. His appointee in District 18, Scott Lautenbaugh, also faced election for the first time yesterday.

None of those candidates won their contests.

UPDATE:

Apparently two South Omaha candidates – Chris Moles (LD 7) and Rebecca Barrientos-Patlan (LD 5) – have claimed Heineman’s endorsement in campaign mailers and other materials. Unfortunately, there isn’t a source readily available:

LD 5:

Heath Mello 61%
Rebecca Barrientos-Patlan 26% (Heineman endorsed)

LD 7:

Jeremy Nordquist 67%
Christopher Moles 33% (Heineman endorsed)

  2. Question: Is anyone else finding humour in the uproar over republican sex scandal situation?
    I know I AM! :)
The GOP representing itself as the “moral majority’ party has me literally laughing hysterically any time I hear one of their spokespeople trashing one of our people over our “lack of god ”(which they seem to do a lot).

Can someone PLEASE educate those people because MAN do they have it upsides down and backwards.
BTW, if you’d like to get a chuckle, a giggle and some major laughter going in your reading, get out “The Brotherhood of the Disappearing Pants: A Field Guide to Conservative Sex Scandals.
    It’s a RIOT!
Sorry for being off topic but I don’t have the option of making a new topic post.
