Too Little, Too Late
OMAHA, Neb. – Congressman Lee Terry, who has sat on the House Energy Committee for ten years, has finally proposed an energy plan. While most Nebraskans understand the importance of energy development and reducing our nation’s dependence on petroleum, Lee Terry’s plan makes it clear that he has different priorities.
“After filling his war chest with more than $120,000 from Big Oil, it’s no surprise that Lee Terry’s energy plan is one big handout to the oil industry,” said Matt Connealy, Executive Director of the Nebraska Democratic Party. “Lee Terry has had ten years to offer a real solution to America’s energy problems, and what he’s proposing now is too little, too late. Nebraska deserves an active Congressman who will take a leadership role on important issues, not attempt to placate voters with more of the same failed policies.”
Terry, a Republican who was first elected in 1998, is running for re-election this year. He will face Democrat Jim Esch in November. Esch offers an energy plan that promotes economic development while reducing dependence on foreign and domestic oil.
