Jefferson County Convention

On Sunday night, I headed to Fairbury to attend the Jefferson County Convention.

Judith Conway Kluge, County Chair of the Jefferson County Democrats and 1st Lady of the Nebraska Optimists, put together a great convention. About 40 people were there to enjoy a potluck dinner and to elect new county officers and delegates to state convention.

Marvin Yost, who’s running for County Board in Jefferson County, was there to meet local Democrats. He was joined by Jay Stoddard, candidate for the 3rd Congressional District.

Congratulations to Judith, who was re-elected as County Chair. She has done a great job, and certainly deserved to be re-elected unanimously – which she was, provided we don’t count her husband’s lone dissenting vote.

While I was in Jefferson County on Sunday, Matt attended the Boone, Burt, and Pierce Conventions. Clara went to the Red Willow and Phelps County Conventions.

Matt also attended the Wayne County Convention on Monday; Clara went to the Harlan County Convention. While those were both great events, special attention should be paid to Deb Quirk, Chair of County Chairs, as the Adams County Democrats hosted 180 delegates at their event. Adams County has certainly set the bar for counties around the state.
