Saline County Convention

Jun 04, 09:54 AM CST

About 75 Democrats crowded into a small room at the Saline County Courthouse last night. The building’s air conditioning wasn’t working, but everyone stayed to elect county party officers, delegates to state convention, and develop a plan for success in this year’s election.

Don Eret, who has served as County Chair for many years in Saline County, presided over his last County Convention. He has chosen to retire, and will be succeeded by Crete City Councilman Roger Foster. Many thanks should go to Don for his years of service.

Once again, I wasn’t the only one on the road last night. While I was in Saline County, Matt went to Cedar and Madison Counties, Clara headed to Nance, and Anna went to Cuming. Our Chair, Steve Achelpohl, attended the Washington County Convention, and the Chair of County Chairs, Deb Quirk, went to the Gosper Convention.

All in all, we have 72 County Conventions scheduled this year – the most since the era of Dianna Schimek. Over 60 of those conventions will be attended by Steve, Audra, Deb, or a staff member.

  1. Don Eret was a terrific chair for Saline County and I only wish he and his wife the best in their future. However Roger Foster is a great person for the job and I know that only good things will come in the future for Saline County.
