OWH: Nebraska still may be on the map in campaign

Robynn Tysver wrote about Nebraska’s prospect of being a battleground state:

Republicans and Democrats agreed Wednesday that although Nebraska is unlikely to be a battleground state, it may become a target of interest for Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama.

One or two of the state’s electoral votes could be up for grabs, and both presidential candidates plan to mine the state for money.

McCain has scheduled a July 16 fundraiser at the Strategic Air & Space Museum near Ashland. Nebraska Democrats hope Obama will return to the state before the November election.

The main difference in how the Presidential candidates have treated Nebraska so far is this: Senator Obama asked Nebraskans for their support and outlined his vision for America; Senator McCain is coming here to ask for our money.

  1. There is a rumor going around that Obama could choose Nelson for VP to gain conservative support. How likely is that rumor?
