Douglas and Lancaster County Conventions
Jun 10, 10:55 AM CST
Douglas and Lancaster Counties both had fantastic turnouts at their conventions this weekend.
Anna and Steve went to the Douglas County Convention. I don’t have any pictures but you can read more about it here. You can also see some ridiculous Republican attempts to co-opt Senator Obama’s message of change at the end of the story.
Douglas County Democrats got an early wake-up call Saturday morning. The Douglas County Democratic convention was held bright and early at Benson High School…
“If you’re looking for new change and leadership, I think clearly you have to look at the ticket we have,” said Jim Esch, Democratic candidate for congress. Esch has been in favor of Obama from the beginning and says, now that Hillary Clinton is out of the race, he hopes more Democrats will support Obama.
I was able to attend the Lancaster County Convention. Over 750 Democrats attended – and incredible number that has never been approached in recent memory – which in itself was a tribute to the fantastic work that the Lancaster County Democrats have done this year.
Part of the crowd gathered in the Pershing Center.
Vic Covalt (center, in green jacket and tie) runs for a spot to State Convention.
Congratulations to both of these County Parties for putting on great events.
