Eric Fought to Join Minnesota Dems

Eric Fought, longtime Communications Director and Deputy Director for the NDP (and “former Democratic Party bigwig”), has taken a job in the communications shop of the Minnesota DFL Party.

Eric Fought

In the time I worked with Eric – from when I started in January 2007 to February 2008 – I gained a lot of respect for him and his work. He was behind much of the media coverage of the February Caucus, and I have no doubt that the Caucus would not have been as successful without him.

Eric continued his work for Democrats in Nebraska when he left the NDP after the Caucus to manage Tony Raimondo’s campaign for the Democratic Party’s Senate nomination, helping to make May’s Primary Election one of the most exciting in recent memory. He can and should be proud of the work he did here, from helping to re-elect Senator Ben Nelson to being the NDP’s public face for two years. In him, the Minnesota DFL has gained a great asset.

The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Laborer Party is the state’s version of the Democratic Party. It is the result of a 1944 merger between three of Minnesota’s progressive political parties.

Minnesota has a targeted Senate race, where Democrat Al Franken will face incumbent Republican Norm Coleman. It also has numerous contested House races. In addition, the Twin Cities will be the site of the 2008 Republican National Convention.

We at the NDP wish Eric all the best in his new endeavors.

  3. Congratulations, Eric! Minnesota is lucky to have you. Looks like Al Franken is working really hard on his grassroots campaign. It should be interesting to be part of that inner circle!
