Communications Director
LINCOLN, Neb. – Eric Van Horn, who has served as a Field Organizer for the Nebraska Democratic Party since January 2007, is taking over as the Party’s Communications Director.
Van Horn, 24, was heavily involved in planning, organizing, and executing Nebraska’s first-ever Presidential caucus in February of this year. He took over the role of Party spokesman in addition to his field organizing duties when previous Communications Director Eric Fought left the NDP to manage Tony Raimondo’s bid for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.
“Over the past 18 months, Eric has done an excellent job for the Nebraska Democratic Party in a wide variety of tasks. I’m pleased he will be taking on this new role,” said Steve Achelpohl, Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party. “I look forward to working with him to shape our Party’s message and to help our candidates articulate their vision for a better Nebraska.”
A Nebraska native, Van Horn graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School in 2002 and Iowa State University four years later with a degree in economics. He then returned to Nebraska to manage the Democratic campaign office in Grand Island during Senator Ben Nelson’s campaign for re-election in 2006.
