to Return Corrupt Campaign Cash
LINCOLN, Neb. – Today, Nebraska Democratic Party Executive Director Matt Connealy called upon Mike Johanns to return campaign contributions made by felony-indicted Republican Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska.
“Mike Johanns talks a good game in Nebraska, but in actuality he was and will be part of the same culture of corruption that has put our country on the wrong track,” said Connealy. “This election comes down to change versus more of the same, and it’s clear that Mike Johanns can’t deliver for Nebraskans in the U.S. Senate.”
“With nearly half of his contributions coming from special-interest and culture-of-corruption PACs like Northern Lights, you have to wonder just who Mike Johanns wants to serve in Washington,” Connealy added. “That kind of campaign may be good enough for politics as usual, but it’s not going to fly with Nebraskans this year.”
Northern Lights PAC, affiliated with Republican Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, made a $1000 contribution to Mike Johanns in November of last year. Republican Senators John Sununu of New Hampshire and Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina have already donated the money their campaigns received from the PAC to charity.
