Republicans Cookie-Cutter Campaigning
Sep 04, 09:55 AM CST
This election cycle, voters are excited about change you can believe in. Unfortunately, three Republican legislative candidates are just offering change you can copy and paste:
Legislative aspirants give stands in triplicate
By Martha Stoddard
Three Omaha-area legislative candidates appear to really mean it when they say they think alike.
Not only did Scott Price, Kurt Geschwender and Beau McCoy take similar positions in an online voter survey, they gave the same answers – sometimes word for word…
Price’s position on abortion? “I am pro-life. My life experiences and faith have taught me the value of innocent life.”
Geschwender’s position? Ditto. Word for word. McCoy’s position? Again, ditto.
This is cookie-cutter campaigning at its worst. Candidates get dozens of surveys over the course of a campaign and each candidate must decide which to complete and which to set aside. But plagiarizing answers is an insult to voters’ intelligence.
Be sure to read the full OWH story. I’ve also taken the liberty of collecting the three candidates’ answers in this document (pdf).
