From the Obama campaign in Nebraska:

Obama Economic Plan to Bring Tax Cuts to 1 Million Nebraskans
Less Than 25 percent of Nebraska Households to Receive Tax Relief Under McCain’s Plan

bq. OMAHA, NE – Today, Obama Economic Advisor Brian Deese held a conference call with Nebraska reporters, contrasting the economic stimulus Senator Obama’s plan would bring to hardworking Nebraskans, with the minimal aid John McCain’s plan would provide.

Omaha resident and Obama supporter Nancy Lawson joined Deese on the call this morning. Lawson, a registered Republican, has faced two years of unemployment and no health insurance since voting for George Bush. She now supports Senator Obama and his plan to help hardworking Nebraskans.

From economic experts like Brian Deese, to working class Nebraskans like Nancy Lawson, people know that times are tough, and Nebraskans need change. Since George Bush took office in January 2001, gas prices have gone up 163 percent in Nebraska, over 13,000 Nebraska manufacturing jobs have been lost, and health care premiums have risen 36 percent in the state.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have an economic plan to stand up for hardworking Nebraskans.

Under Barack Obama’s plan, Nebraskans would see real relief:
•1 million workers in Nebraska will receive Obama’s Making Work Pay tax cut of $500 per worker, and $1000 per family.
•Obama would enact an immediate economic stimulus plan that would provide Nebraska’s economy with over $294 million.
•Obama would cut taxes for 60,000 Nebraska seniors by eliminating income taxes for all seniors making less than $50,000.
•Obama’s plan would mean affordable and quality health care for every man, woman and child. That means Obama would cover the over 232,000 people in Nebraska who lack quality health care.
•1 million people would receive an immediate energy rebate of $500 per person, $1000 per family to deal with the soaring energy and gas prices burdening families across Nebraska.

Under John McCain’s plan, Nebraskans would be stuck with “more of the same”:
•Nebraska will receive ZERO dollars in direct fiscal stimulus. Senator McCain has repeatedly refused to join Senator Obama in supporting an additional round of stimulus.
•670,000 households in Nebraska would get ZERO dollars in tax relief.
•76 percent of Nebraska households would receive NO benefit from the McCain middle class tax cut plan.
•230,000 Nebraska seniors would receive NO aid under John McCain’s health care plan.
•The typical Nebraska family making $60,000 would face a tax INCREASE of $1,100 by 2013 under the McCain health plan.

Highlights of Obama’s economic plan include:
•95% of working American families would receive a $1000 tax cut
•$2500 yearly savings on health care premiums per family
•$4000 fully refundable tax credit per year for college tuition and fees
•Eliminate income taxes for seniors making less than $50,000 a year
•Create up to 5 million new green jobs over the next two decades
