Kleeb Closes Gap
Oct 03, 11:38 AM CST
Don Walton at the Lincoln Journal-Star covered the new Rasmussen poll today:
Kleeb said the survey by Rasmussen Reports is evidence of his momentum in the closing weeks of the Senate match.
“We’ve made tremendous gains with independents,” the Democratic nominee said, pointing to Rasmussen figures that showed him leading among nonpartisan voters by 43 percent to 35 percent.
Kyle Michaelis on NNN has some solid analysis:
Kleeb’s unfavorables are down 5% and his favorables are up 4% – again, everything moving in the right direction. At the same time, there are even more voters who are “not sure” about Kleeb, meaning even more are giving a fresh look to this candidate and this race as the election draws near.
As you may notice, Johanns’ unfavorable numbers have actually jumped 7%. Meanwhile, that dangerous 70% favorability we saw two months ago has fallen a full 11-points. It’s a change like this – in what has still been a very clean campaign – that really opens the door and shows that this race could become very competitive as more and more voters take a hard look at Johanns and find him similarly wanting.
Johanns’ support is softening. That’s undeniable – a bad sign at any stage of a campaign but definitely heading into October.
