Democrats Outnumber Republicans in Douglas County

For the first time in 14 years, Democrats outnumber Republicans in Douglas County.

From the World-Herald’s Tom Shaw:

This year began with the Republicans holding a 12,000 registration advantage in the county. That means Democrats have made up a lot of ground.

“Obviously I’m not happy about it, but it appears it’s the Democrats’ turn to be on the positive side,” said Mark Quandahl, chairman of the Nebraska Republican Party.

From the caucus in February to Obama’s campaign right now, it’s been Democrats who have put Omaha on the political map. Democrats aren’t taking this state for granted; we’re working hard to personally ask for their support. Voters appreciate it, and these registration numbers reflect that effort.
