It takes all types of people with various political stripes that make the United States is what it is. But I believe that if you want change, then it comes from the middle or the center. A wise person once told me that if you want to see the ripple effects of change sweep across the nation, then you drop the stone in the middle of the pond. Once the ripples hit the edge, the waves would be so overwhelming as opposed to throwing the rock right off the shore.
Sorry for the metaphor there, but I think it fits.

While I understand Mat’s desire for change, it’s important to remember FDR’s methods and objectives were calculated and heavily considered. He also was one of the first to “reach across the aisle” to get things done, a very moderate and centrist approach. I do believe however, that he made the decisions necessary to right the ship. In this regard, I completely agree with you Mat, and what we need are people who are not afraid to stand up for the real people that they represent.
Over the next few months, I will be conferring with many Democrats throughout District 1 and the State as I begin the first phase of what I intend to be a successful run to unseat Jeff Fortenberry in 2010.
It is my intention to have an informational website up and functioning in the next few months. In the meantime, I look forward to reading posts on this site and contributing where I can.
Luke, I like the metaphor. No need to apologize. And Mat, I’m curious to hear a more detailed explanation of what you believe the “Strong, progressive voices” you mentioned should be saying…and to whom.
I’m not asking as a way to make light of your opinion. I simply would like to know more about what you believe and continue the discussion.
Thanks, and look forward to talking with as many people as might be interested in doing so.
