Defending the Status Quo in Health Insurance?

Judging by recent press releases, Mark Fahelson and the Nebraska Republican Party are so out of touch with the realities of modern America that they think there is nothing wrong with our health care industry.

Who else, other than the healthcare-insurance industry complex and their Republican Party lackeys, thinks that health care should be a luxury only the rich can afford?

Why are Republicans against competition in the marketplace? Nobody is proposing government health care. A public option is just that, an option for people to buy into the very insurance that our elected leaders have access to already.

The reality is that while insurance companies build marble temples and overcompensate their executives and shareholders, about 46 million Americans have no health insurance. The rest of us pay way too much to help defray the costs of care for those who can’t afford it. Employers and employees alike cannot afford coverage and cannot afford to be with out it.

The public option is a tax cut in the budgets of families across Nebraska. Millions of Americans who currently lack insurance would be able to qualify for it and afford it.

Anyone who wants to keep their private insurance can do so.

Step out of your bubble Mr. Fahleson and admit that our present healthcare and insurance system is not good for any of us. It is a mess. It needs to be fixed. NOW.

So, who exactly is the Nebraska GOP fighting for again? Why are they against marketplace competition that helps Nebraska families?

We applaud our President’s efforts to do something about health care in America. We are proud of Ben Nelson for having an open mind enough to listen.

It is easy to be against everything. That is why the Party of No only promises to take us no where.

The Party of No means it: No help for you; No help for your kids; No help except for their bonus-baby overpaid supporters of the status quo.

It is time to change health care in America. Are you with us? Or are you just buying into the “Just Say No” politics of Mark Fahleson and the NEGOP?
