Lincoln, Neb.—US Senator Ben Nelson delivered real relief to Nebraskans in need by voting to allow purchase of cheaper prescription drugs.

Nelson voted to allow access to Canadian supply stores via the internet, where prescription drug prices are often significantly lower than domestic prices.

“Ben Nelson really is ‘as solid as Nebraska,’” said Nebraska State Democratic Chair Vic Covalt. “He shows the leadership and results oriented approach to helping real people facing real hardships across this State and this Nation,” Covalt said. “These votes are extremely important to families at a critical time when they are struggling to makes ends meet.”

“While Ben Nelson is looking out for the consumers’ needs, Mike Johanns voted No on helping people in critical times,” Covalt continued. “Mike Johanns either does not know or does not care about the common people. I guess he wants all of us to pay too much for prescriptions at a time when our budgets are stretched thin.”
