Lincoln, NE – Attorney Rick Boucher announced his candidacy for Lancaster County Attorney today. Boucher will bring a new vision and fresh perspective to the office. “I’m running for County Attorney for three
reasons: to improve public safety; to help make the criminal justice system fair for all residents; and to make certain the office is accountable to the public, both professionally and financially.”
Boucher heads Boucher Law Firm and also serves as Legal Counsel for both the Nebraska Sheriff’s Association and the Nebraska Realtors Association. He held the news conference at the Embassy Suites this morning.
“It’s time to shake up the status quo and bring in leadership from the outside,” said Boucher. He specifically pledged to increase community outreach to communicate to the public; institute a long-proposed program by Lincoln Police Chief Casady to have the County Attorney work more closely with police; and promised to issue an annual report to the public on the activities of the County Attorney’s office to increase accountability.
Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler quickly endorsed Boucher’s campaign, “The Lancaster County Attorney plays an essential role in keeping the residents of Lincoln and Lancaster County safe. I have known Rick Boucher since 1983 and know he will bring the office closer to the people of Lancaster County to better protect our community. Rick will be a leader for innovation and change in the County Attorney’s office. He will work tirelessly to make our county an even safer place to live and raise a family. That’s why I am endorsing Rick Boucher for Lancaster County Attorney.”
Boucher, 56 years old, is a 1976 graduate of Bradley University and a 1980 graduate of the Villanova University College of Law. He and his wife, Janet, have three children: Philip, a third-year Medical Student at UNMC; Connor, a 2009 graduate of UNL; and Maddy, a second Grader at Cathedral. He has worked for the Nebraska State Patrol and has studied at the FBI Academy, in Quantico, VA. He currently is a Trustee and Officer of the Community Health Endowment, the Lincoln Asian Cultural Center, and is Vice-Chair of the City of Lincoln’s Charter Review Committee. He is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association’s House of Delegates, active in the Nebraska Trial Lawyers Association and the Lincoln Independent Business Association. He has served as President of the National Association of Prosecutor Counsel, the Lincoln Tennis Association, and the Cornhusker Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
