The Party of "No."

Rather than actually solving the problems faced by hard-working Nebraskans, the Nebraska Republican Party offers nothing other than juvenile attacks pandering to the media prior to their quarterly meeting being held in McCook this weekend. Dave Heineman, Mark Fahleson, and the leaders of the Nebraska GOP would be well-served to remember all of the positive improvements the Senator has brought home to McCook by putting his boots to work.

Ben Nelson is the only member of the Nebraska Congressional delegation who worked to pass the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009. Leaders like Nelson are aware that Nebraska needs job growth, unemployment remains too high, and our once vibrant small communities are suffering from the years of Republican leadership digging their heels into the ground. The problems of our state, however, are all fixable if we roll up our sleeves and remember the strong commitment to local communities demonstrated by leaders like Nelson.

Through the efforts of Senator Nelson in partnership with the community, residents of McCook will see $1.1 million in upgrades to West J Street, $17 million in low interest loans to help renovate and expand the Community Hospital Association, and over $125,000 for teacher training in McCook Public Schools. All of these investments in a true Nebraska community are due to the Recovery Act.

As real Nebraskans lace up their boots in the morning to get to work, they should be asking what Mike Johanns, Governor Dave Heineman, and their Republican Party of “No” have done for Nebraska lately?
