Day One: No Reply from Heineman.
Feb 05, 12:59 PM CST
It’s been one day since Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Vic Covalt asked Governor Dave Heineman to cause the return “the Husker Kickbacks.” The state auditor has uncovered a Husker Kickback where state employees got tickets and passes and other benefits for advertising on Husker Sports Network. They should pay the state treasury the value of the benefits they got as kickbacks for spending taxpayer money. It needs to be returned.
As originally reported in the Lincoln Journal Star “state agencies are spending more than $1 million a year buying advertising on the Husker Sports Network and using the perks of sports tickets, tailgate passes and other incentives,” which includes “2,564 tickets to University of Nebraska athletic events, tailgate party passes, travel and tickets to away games, dinners with coaches and autographed footballs, volleyballs and posters.”
In this time of budget shortfalls, the benefits gained from the expenditure of tax dollars needs to be returned to hardworking Nebraskan taxpayers. Why no response, Deficit Dave?
We are counting the days until you do the right thing.
