Day Four: Silence from Heineman.

Feb 08, 12:07 PM CST

Today marks the fourth day since Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Vic Covalt asked Governor Dave Heineman to the return “the Husker Kickbacks.” The state auditor has uncovered a Husker Kickback where state employees got tickets and passes and other benefits for advertising on Husker Sports Network. They should pay the state treasury the value of the benefits they got as kickbacks for spending taxpayer money. It needs to be returned.

As the state faces a projected budget deficit of $660 million, Governor Heineman needs to be concerned about fiscal responsibility. These agencies should not be let off with a stern warning, but need to be held financially accountable for their actions. Now is not the time to take tax dollars away from hardworking Nebraskans so state employees can have free tickets to sporting events.

Why no response, Deficit Dave?

We are counting the days until you do the right thing.
