The World Goes ‘round With Deficit Dave

Deficit Dave Heineman sure is good at spinning. Deficit Dave spins in so many circles, they should name a ride after him at the State Fair.

As Deficit Dave spun his fiction to the Lincoln Journal Star in a recent interview, it was enough to make a person sick from going round and round.

“I’d love to talk about jobs and economic development this whole campaign,” Heineman said in a telephone interview.

“We have been very, very successful in the whole arena of economic activity.”

Deficit Dave must have been revolving too fast to remember the truth of the matter.

During Deficit Dave’s tenure, Nebraska’s jobless rate has risen to the highest jobless rate for Nebraska in 22 years.

Deficit Dave took the stimulus funds to plug the budget gap and fund the prisons. Money that could have been used to create new jobs across Nebraska.

Under Deficit Dave’s watch, Nebraska expects a projected $660 million budget deficit.

Deficit Dave even had to call the State Senators back into Lincoln for a special session to fix things with the budget when forecasted September tax revenues fell $40 million short.

So Deficit Dave, bring it on. Let’s talk about Nebraska’s highest jobless rate in 22 years, the use of stimulus funds to plug your budget gap, and a looming budget deficit. Remember when Deficit Dave spoke about the Nebraska budget deficit crisis and said he was, “hoping that the worst is behind us.” That’s not leadership. That’s not a plan to solve problems. That’s just spin.

No matter how you spin it, Deficit Dave is a bad leader for Nebraska.
