Heineman and Terry: Fair Weather Friends?
Mar 05, 11:05 AM CST
Lee Terry has managed to complain to the media about his opposition to the stimulus funds on several occasions, but he seems to have a disagreement with Deficit Dave Heineman about the use of stimulus funds right here in Nebraska. Recently Lee Terry was questioned about Dave Heineman’s use of the stimulus funds to cover the Governor’s budget deficits. When asked if Terry thought Deficit Dave Heineman shouldn’t have accepted the stimulus funds for Nebraska, Terry replied, “I didn’t say that,” and when asked a second time, Terry replied, “I will continue to not answer your question; you’ll have to ask the Governor.”
Apparently putting differences over stimulus funds aside, Deficit Dave Heineman will appear at a fundraiser for Lee Terry to help Terry save his failing re-election bid for Congress. Perhaps Lee Terry should use this golden opportunity to ask Heineman why Deficit Dave accepted the stimulus funds to plug his budget gap and fund prisons rather than create new jobs for Nebraska.
