Club for Growth President, Pat Toomey?
No, the heat hasn’t gotten to my head – at least not yet. Adrian Smith (Republican Candidate for Congress) has some interesting friends, who have some interesting ideas.
Check out this piece in yesterday’s USA Today. In it, Club for Growth President Pat Toomey once again notes the organization’s radical viewpoint on agricultural subsidies by calling them “Moscow on the Mississippi.”
If you aren’t familiar with Club for Growth, they also favor abolishing the U.S. Department of Agriculture all together.
Seems to me that maybe Mr. Toomey should spend some time in Nebraska. Or better yet, Adrian Smith can send the $390,000 that Toomey has sent him (2/3 of the amount raised in the primary) back, so that he can travel around the country, visiting family farms.
If you live in the 3rd District, it is critical that you spend some time telling your friends and neighbors about how out of touch Adrian Smith is with the priorities of rural Nebraska. SpeakOut, by writing a letter to the editor of your local paper and by calling in to local radio programs.

From the journal star:
“Smith, a state senator from Gering, doubts human actions are to blame for global warming as “climate change, in large part, is a natural occurrence.””
from Think Progress:
” There is no scientific debate about whether human activity is contributing to global warming. Science Magazine analyzed 928 peer-reviewed scientific papers on global warming published between 1993 and 2003. Not a single one challenged the scientific consensus the earth’s temperature is rising due to human activity. In 2002, the Bush administration’s EPA concluded that global warming the the last 20 years was “due mostly to human activity.”

Seriously, have this guy’s priorities always been so screwy?
Of course, the motorcycle stuff pales in comparison to Smith’s ridiculous position on global warming, not to mention his cozying up with the pack of vipers at the Club for Growth. Better to stand with the Hell’s Angels than the company Smith currently keeps.
