We find no real satisfaction or happiness in life without obstacles to conquer and goals to achieve.

  1. So, of the 100-hour plan votes,
which ones do we think we’re mostly likely to get our 3® Congressmen to vote for?

I think there’s s decent shot we’ll win one of them over on the Student-Aid vote. I’m sure they’ll all vote against stem-cells. I’m uncertain on the the others.

Any thoughts here on the blog?

  2. Well, Smith got $5,000 and Fortenberry got $10,000 from Nelnet. Nelnet gave a bunch of contributions across the board, a few more Republicans than Democrats. The only Nebraskan they didn’t donate to was Terry, at least from what I can see.

Smith and Terry already voted against reforming the earmark process. They will most definitely vote against stem cell research (I’m wondering if we have a veto-proof majority in the House for that?). Raising the minimum wage should be interesting too.

The 100 Hours plan has overwhelming popular support, and anyone who votes against certain measures, or – if Bush vetoes, will paint themselves and the Republican Party in a bad light.

  3. Lee Terry’s House speech is reviewed on Daily Kos:

  4. Utahns break from Bush on Iraq
Reddest state no longer behind war’s handling, split on ‘surge’
    By Matthew D. LaPlante
    The Salt Lake Tribune

President Bush has lost majority support on Iraq from residents of the reddest state in the nation.
A Salt Lake Tribune poll conducted last week shows Utah’s support for Bush’s handling of the war in Iraq has taken a substantial plunge in the past few months. Just 41 percent of Utahns say they support Bush on Iraq – marking the first time a Tribune poll has found fewer than half of Utahns in the president’s war camp.

  5. Thanks, Vince. I’m glad a few more people got to see my post on Daily Kos, but in fairness I’d rather put the credit to the UNO Dems Blog.

I have to wonder what a poll of Nebraskans would look like. My general sense is that people are really coming around to an anti-war position, but I have nothing to verify that.
