Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth to Address Douglas County Democrats

Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth (D-South Dakota At-Large) will give the keynote address at the 27th Annual Douglas County Democratic Party Harry S Truman Dinner Friday evening in Omaha.

The event will be held at the DC Centre, 11830 Stonegate Circle in Omaha. A cocktail hour begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by the dinner and program at 7:00 p.m.

A native of Houghton, South Dakota, Congresswoman Herseth is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition – a group of moderate Democrats committed to fiscal discipline and strong national security, and is co-chair of the Rural Working Group, which is dedicated to raise the profile of issues important to rural America. She also serves on three committees vital to the region’s interests: Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs and Resources. She is Ranking Member on the Veterans’ Affairs subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.

The Douglas County Democrats will give out several awards at the Truman event, including the Harry S Truman Lifetime Achievement Award to former Douglas County Attorney, Jim Jansen and the Sam J. Howell Public Service Award to former District Court Clerk, Rudy Tesar.
