Weekend Open Thread

Everything that is done in the world, is done by hope.

– Martin Luther

I was really inspired last night by the words of Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth of South Dakota. She was the keynote speaker at the Douglas County Truman Dinner in Omaha. Some of you were there…it was a very nice celebration.

Representative Herseth, in my view, gets it. She understands that in order to win elections, we have to change the conversation. We have to show up. We have to reach out to every citizen of this state, regardless of party affiliation and tell our stories. The values we possess as Nebraska Democrats – yearning for social justice, safety for our ourselves and our children, the promise of a good education, the meaning of a hard day’s work, the hope of the next generation that their lives will be better than our own.

We can’t shy away for standing up for these values. We cannot rest until we convince our friends and neighbors that our lives can be better and that the leadership our Party offers will make it happen.

Have a great weekend.
