We had a great turnout with almost 50 folks showing up in Hastings, Nebraska. We even had a few Republicans stopping by in amazement that we were cleaning up the park-one of them even stopped and joked that he was “going to collect rent checks but would send us a check for doing good work.”

The last stop of our trip through greater Nebraska was to Scotts Bluff County, and we were well received. For me, it felt good to be home and see familiar faces. Area Democrats are already getting ready for the caucus in February. They are actively recruiting precinct coordinators and are ready to get the ball rolling.

On the Road: Douglas County

Fri, Feb 23 10:10 AM CST

Last night I headed east to the Douglas County Central Committee meeting. About 50 Democrats came to the local headquarters to talk about issues affecting the Party, including how we can begin to organize the county’s 354 precincts for next February’s caucuses. I could sense a lot of excitement for our Presidential candidates as well as the new way Nebraska Democrats will be voicing their preference.

From the Road: Touring Southeast Nebraska

Tue, Jun 6 09:44 AM CST

This weekend, I went back to my roots. I traveled throughout Southeast Nebraska for Conventions. The weekend kicked off in my hometown of Falls City where Richardson County Democrats gathered for the County Convention. Candidate Maxine Moul, a Representative for David Hahn, and the NDP National Committeewoman, Kathleen Fahey energized the Democrats in Richardson and the momentum from that Convention did not cease while traveling throughout Southeast. Doug Merz, County Chair, was proud of the turnout in Richardson and was ecstatic to see representation from the Nebraska Democratic Party and from local, statewide, and national campaigns.

"All I need is a cell phone, internet connection and an airport."

Mon, Sep 26 02:19 PM CST

About 70 lucky Democrats had the pleasure of hearing Scott Kleeb make his fist official campaign speech this weekend in Scottsbluff at the Gathering on the Great Plains dinner. Kleeb was an overwhelming hit with everyone in the room. He spoke about why he is a Democrat and what changes need to be made both here in Nebraska and in the U.S. It was refreshing to hear what he thinks needs to be done to improve the lives of Nebraskans, and not just hear a list of what is wrong with the leadership in the state. Kleeb has great ideas that we can all get behind. Here is a short excerpt from the speech detailing some of the progress he would like to see in rural areas.
