Bruning’s Blind Ambition

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Democratic Party State Chair Steve Achelpohl released the following statement regarding Attorney General Jon Bruning’s announcement this morning:

“Jon Bruning has been running for Senate for quite some time now and any announcement regarding his intentions comes as no surprise.”

“Voters are tired of calculating politicians who spend their entire careers calculating their next campaign. Jon Bruning has consistently sought higher office since he was 26.”

“In the 2006 campaign cycle, Bruning spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a statewide TV blitz in a campaign in which he had no opponent. Since that time, he has spent state funds in an attempt to remain highly visible while playing off of the emotions and fears of Nebraskans.”

“Bruning was just re-elected to serve the citizens of Nebraska as Attorney General. He is showing very little regard for the office he holds. Now he wants to walk away from his duties as Attorney General in an effort to gain yet another higher office.”

“One of these days we hope Jon Bruning will find a job that he likes enough to focus on completely.”
