Hagel Flip Flops on Iraq Resolution Again; Media Takes Note
LINCOLN, Neb. – Once again, Chuck Hagel has reversed his course and inexplicably contradicted his position on a resolution that expresses opposition to the president’s plan to surge troop levels in Iraq.
Last night, Hagel and other Republicans announced they would stop at nothing to force a vote on the resolution, authored by Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson and Virginia Senator John Warner. This brazen announcement comes only 48 hours after Hagel voted to PREVENT consideration of the same resolution, of which he is a cosponsor.
“When it comes to opposing President Bush’s proposal to surge troops in Iraq, Senator Hagel was for it before he was against it before he was for it today,” said Steve Achelpohl, State Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party. “Hagel has become a caricature of himself with his weekend show tough talk and Senate floor soft walk.”
